Reducing energy consumption through management system

Higher energy prices and new environmental initiatives are causing headache to hoteliers in Asia. How can hotels create a positive experience to the guests and yet can cut down its energy consumption and carbon emission?

To achieve long term energy reduction, hotels need to have a clear operational objective with an effective management system.  According to LRQA’s Richard Gunawan, vice president for business and sustainability development, tracking and analysing energy consumption pattern are only parts of the solutions.

It talks about how energy efficiency provided by international Energy Management Standards like EN 16001 and ISO 50001 provides hoteliers cost savings that benefit the bottom line. These management systems also assist hotel owners to demonstrate their commitment to reduce their energy usage and carbon emission.
