ISO/PC 283, the Project Committee responsible for the development of the new international occupational health & safety management system standard, ISO 45001 has released information this week which has confirmed the target publication date for the new standard.
At the time of the last update, dated 6 October, publication was expected as early as July/August 2016 or as late as March 2017. Based on the latest information, the likely publication date will be October 2016.
Speaking of the new standard, Steve Williams, LRQA System and Governance Manager said, “The development of ISO 45001 will help organisations to minimise the risk of harm to all those working on its behalf. The work undertaken by ISO/PC 283 is serving to ensure that the revisions meet the complex and varied needs of a global marketplace.”
The 4th meeting of ISO/PC 283, the Project Committee responsible for the development of the new international occupational health & safety management system standard, ISO 45001 took place in September.
The purpose of this meeting was to agree a version of ISO 45001 which could progress as the Draft International Standard (DIS) following review of the comments received against the second Committee Draft (CD2).
Publication of the DIS is expected in January 2016 and further meetings of ISO/PC 283 are planned for late May/early June and if necessary a further meeting could take place in September to review the comments received against the DIS.
With all the major ISO standards being revised, LRQA is at the forefront of communicating the changes. We offer a range of assessment services as well public and in-house training courses, all aimed at helping to ensure that organisations worldwide have a smooth transition to the new standards.
