LRQA issues first ISO 50001 certificate in Asia

LRQA awarded its first ISO 50001 certificate in Asia in Bangkok, Thailand. ISO 50001 makes a positive contribution leading to major improvements to an organisation's energy efficiency.
Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) awarded its first ISO 50001 certificate in Asia to Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. and its affiliate BST Elastomers Co.,Ltd., Thailand for their Energy Management System. The two certified companies are manufacturers of Butadiene, Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE), Butene-1, Raffinate-1 and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

The transition from BS EN 16001 to ISO 50001: 2011 was made by the companies in August 2011 and the outcome was favourable. The standard made a positive contribution and major improvements to the companies’ energy efficiency.
In an official ceremony, Nit Tanasuthiseri, business centre manager, Thailand presented the certificate to Wirote Loedsalak, plant manager. “We wish to congratulate the two companies for achieving this new global standard. This adoption of ISO 50001 by Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. and BST Elastomers Co., Ltd will lead to reduced energy consumption and reduced carbon emissions.”
In the past LRQA has certified Bangkok Synthetics Co., Ltd. and BST Elastomers Co., Ltd.to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and BS EN 16001 also.
