Corporate Social Responsibility
In May 2009, LRQA was invited to speak at the Chinese University, MBA forum in Hong Kong. This is an important CSR forum in Asia, as the event attracts hundreds of CSR professionals and academic communities to attend. Big multinationals such as Credit Suisse, UBS and HSBC were also there to present. Richard Gunawan, LRQA Vice President of Business and Sustainability Development, Asia addressed the issues of reporting and verification to the audience. The public is demanding a greater accountability from corporations. CSR reports need to be verified by independent party to boost confidence.
BS 25999 Business Continuity
LRQA has achieved UKAS accreditation for BS 25999-2, the certification standard for Business Continuity Management (13 June 2008). The standard demonstrates an organisation’s capability to manage business critical risks such that it can continue to run effectively following disruption, whether natural, man-made, criminal or terror-based. Five certification bodies took part in the UKAS pilot, but only LRQA successfully met the strict criteria necessary to achieve accreditation to offer BS 25999 certification in any industry sector in the UK.
